I was working with a tight budget and spent weeks frustrated by how little $2,000 gets you in New York. Outpost came up constantly in forums and I eventually stopped fighting it. The location was a genuinely good deal for what you get - furnished, decent neighborhood. The room is compact, obviously. NYC rooms are compact. But management was organized, things worked, and I avoided the broker fee circus entirely. For someone landing in the city without much financial runway, this kind of setup makes it possible to actually live here rather than hemorrhage money from day one.
